Chichester Harbour Events - June
Sat 2 June Farm Walk - 2pm / 2 hours
Meet the dairy farmers Mary and Stan Pike and learn all about how they manage their land in the protected landscape adjacent to the harbour. See the cows being milked. Afterwards you can visit their café for refreshments and to enjoy their home produced ice cream which will be on sale. All attendees must attend safety briefing at 2pm.

Meet: Northney Farm, Hayling Island PO11 0RX. From the road onto Hayling, take first left to Northney and follow for ¾ mile, farm is on the left. Parking on the farm.
Sun 3 June Solar Heritage boat trip: Harbour Discovery - 3pm / 1.5 hours
Departure from Itchenor for a 1½ hour boat trip. Onboard there will be a general commentary about Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Thur 7 June Solar Heritage Trip: I Spy - 11am / 1.5 hours
Departs from Itchenor. A trip especially designed for younger ones and their families. What can you spot whilst enjoying a trip on the solar boat?

Fri 8 June Introduction to Fishing and Crabbing Competition - 12:30am / 3 hours
Find out what you need and what you do, and then try some fishing from the quay. Also, a crabbing competition for children, with prizes. Bring any fishing gear you have, including a crabbing line and bucket. We will have some kit to share round. Wear warm, outdoor clothes. Refreshments will be available but you might like to bring a picnic. For all ages. With Allan Blamire and colleagues from the Apuldram Fishing and Boating Club. All attendees must attend safety briefing and welcome at 12:30am.
Fee: £3 per person fishing, to include bait, on the day.
Meet: Harbour Education Centre, Dell Quay PO20 7EE. Roadside parking then walk to the quay. The Centre is the last building on the left.
Sat 9 June Introduction to a Wild Flower Key - 10am / 2 hours
If you are interested in wild flower books but have never learnt how to use one properly this is our new event for you! An opportunity to be shown how to access a wild flower key and plenty of opportunity to practise on local specimens in the classroom. With John Arnott, wild flower enthusiast. If you have them please bring a wild flower key, preferably the one by Francis Rose, and a hand lens (or magnifier).

Sun 10 June Walk and Solar Boat Trip - 3pm / 1 hour for walk and 1 hour boat trip
Enjoy a 2½ mile (4km) countryside walk led by a guide from Itchenor to Chichester Marina in Birdham. Then take a trip on the solar-powered boat for a chance to view the harbour from the water, finishing back at Itchenor. Bring footwear for muddy paths, a snack and warm clothes for the boat.

Tue 12 June Wild Flowers at Sandy Point - 10.30 am / 2 hours
A chance to stroll around Hampshire Council Council’s restricted access nature reserve at Sandy Point on Hayling Island. We will look for and identify the distinctive plants of this protected coastal heath and sand dune area. With Pete Potts, Senior Hampshire Countryside Ranger.

Thur 14 June Talk: The Development and Role of the CHIMET Weather Station - 7pm / 1 hour
An opportunity to find out more about how the CHIMET weather website was developed, how it works and what information it can give us about the weather in the Chichester Harbour area. With Barry Blaydes, one of the masterminds behind it all.
Fee: £3 (half to RNLI).
Meet: Hayling Island Lifeboat Station PO11 9SJ. Parking next to the Station by kind permission of the RNLI.
Sat 16 June Native Orchids on Thorney Island - 10am / 2 hours
A special opportunity to visit a protected site for native orchids and other wild flowers in the company of Conservancy Warden Barry Collins.

Sat 16 June Evening Cruise on the Solar Heritage - 7pm / 1.5 hours
Departs from Itchenor. Enjoy time onboard the virtually silent Solar Heritage during the most peaceful time of the day. Bring your own picnic and wine if you wish or enjoy a meal at a local pub afterwards.

Sun 17 June Thorney Island Walk - 10am / 5 hours
A 9 mile (14km) walk around the shoreline of Thorney Island from Eames Farm. Please note that the path is quite worn and uneven in places. Bring a packed lunch and snacks, refreshments at The Stables afterwards.

A stroll through Fishbourne Meadows, a site managed for nature conservation. We will take time to look for and identify wild flowers including the Southern Marsh Orchid. Bring a Wild Flower Field Guide if you have one. No dogs. With wild flower enthusiast John Arnott.
